It has been a while since I have done a build session, which is down to a few factors:
- The weather has been amazing, and it is hard to be motivated to spend a day in the garage when it is 28 degrees and lovely and sunny!
- We have been away on holiday for a few weeks.
- It has been my birthday 😉
- I knew I had to go back and take the headlights off and apart, as I had forgotten to put a grommet in, and I wasn’t looking forward to doing this.
Anyway – I decided I had procrastinated enough, and spent a day on the car today.
The first job was to bite the bullet and do the headlights. This was a pain because I needed to remove the Anti-Roll bar, then the headlight, then the headlight wiring.
I managed to get the grommet in, but then the wiring would not go back in because the grommet meant there was less space! I ended up feeding each of the individual cables through, then heat-shrinking the cable. The whole process took about 2 hours for both lights — frustrating!

The offending grommet!
Once this was done, I could crack on with some more interesting things.
The manual calls for the engine to be filled with oil at this point, so 3.8L of oil was duly added to the engine … feels quite exciting!

Then it was onto the engine bay plumbing – this involved the cutting of various hoses (no room for error here!) However, things went pretty smoothly, and I soon had the radiator hoses in.

Next it was to the rest of the plumbing, which included the water temperature submarine (note to others, the temperature sensor is delivered with the engine pre-wired, and not with the submarine!)
Once I figured out where the temperature sensor was, things were pretty simple from then on, and I managed to get this fitted, as well as some more plumbing.
All in all, a good session today, and hopefully progress will continue at a good pace — I am keen to try and get it started in a week or so (which is probably very wishful thinking!)
